Larval Mask

from shaping to play

These large, simplyfied mask has not quite resolved yet into real human features. The work with the larval mask is the first step towards characters and situations and at the same time it opens up an imaginary realm.

Mask making

At this weekend you build your personal larval mask. You will learn all the important steps and tricks from the clay negative to the finished mask.

Mask play

We bring to life the masks and analyze the dynamics which embrace your mask. A mixture of improvisation, technique and scene creation. The workshop will be held every Tuesday evening.

Neutral Mask

The heart of the Lecoq method is the neutral mask. With this mask, we explore the poetic power of the body and head out on the search for personal and collective images. We gain an understanding of the relationship between movement and space. We explore the state of complete openness and reception and connect our emotions with movement. Presence and vitality give the play an authentic expression and your own body is the foundation to create a living stage. The workshop will be held every Tuesday evening.

Beginner's Course Physical Theater

So Thinks My Body / So Plays My Body

Our bodies carry us through life every day.

The countless movements that happen hereby automatically, are we often unaware of.

In this workshop we explore the question of how these everyday movements can be transformed into a theatrical expression and this in turn can be set in a dramatic context. In the first part ‚So Thinks My Body' we get to know the body as means of expression and learn more about the way we move. With various exercises from body awareness and acting techniques (up to a anatomical excursion) we explore our body holistically. We analyse how the individual anatomy influences the way how a person moves and thus characterizes an actor’s personal, unique style.

In the second part ‘So Plays My Body', we use the acquired knowledge of body language in the scenic play. Starting with concrete activities we design a scene and learn to span a dramatic arc. We explore how we can create the illusion of space and our imagination made visible to the audience.

The workshop is based on the pedagogy of Jacques Lecoq and is addressed to all those who enjoy physical expression and have an interest to learn the basics of physical theater. Both modules can be attended separately.
